The Big Picture

I saw this cool feature on CNET's news.com site and thought of sharing it with you it is known as 'The Big Picture'. More details are available here but I will be glad if this tool is made available by CNET for all different websites.

The Big Picture is a CNET News.com special feature, connecting the dots between stories, companies, and topics within the News.com site.

Next generation photo viewer

While browsing randomly on web I encountered this wonderful new technology on which Microsoft has started working. Looks like web 2.0 is going to bring lots of great applications and also will bring best places of world to your computer screen in a way which you have never seen before.

Basically it is a system to browse large quantity of photos in 3d with high quality computing in the background but you need to see for yourself to understand it better.

WikiCalc

The wikiCalc program is a web authoring tool for pages that include data that is more than just unformatted prose. It combines some of the ease of authoring and multi-person editing of a wiki with the familiar visual formatting and data organizing metaphor of a spreadsheet. It can be easily set up to publish to basic web server space accessed by FTP and there is no need to set up server-side programs like CGI. It can, though, run on a server and be used with nothing more than a browser on the client.

Photo2Sketch

Photo2Sketch is a simple program that will turn your usual photos into designs imitating sketches.

It creates pencil/pen drawings of your photographs. I tried it and was pleasantly happy with it. Sometimes you have to play with precision and line slider parameters. The quality of sketches is very good. The program is very limited in functionality but serves its functions.

They have paid version which has more functionalities but for starters like me free version is ok.

The best graphic editor

This is one of the best graphic editor and absolutely free. It is small, nice and easy to install and uninstall with tons of features. I have used it everyday and I can't believe that how my life would be without this wonderful software. It does not provide high end editing of graphics but for day to day photo editing and organizing it is the best....Irfanview

What is better than email...certainly a personalized letter...

In this fast paced world where information is flowing in a fraction of second from countries to countries, personalized letters still carry a unique flavor.
On my birthday or on my anniversary I do get many wishes, eithre over the phone or on the net. The e card coming via internet are alright but somehow there is no personal touch, but I love those which come through snailmail. Over the years the number is getting less and less but still they are valuable.
I think there are few reasons why they are valuable:
1. You realize that somebody actually took time to write a letter to you.
2. It can be preserved for longer time.
3. It leaves a personal mark of the person who sent it, like his/her's original hand writings and signature.

I think these are probably reasons, why I cherish letters more than emails. When I ask my friends they echo the same thing which I am thinking. Let me know your views.
